  • John Stout, Graduate Student

    Graduate Student
    University of Delaware
    147a Wolf Hall
    Newark, DE 19716

    Biography

I graduated with my BS and MS degree from the University of Delaware. I’m interested in understanding the neurobiological basis of learning and memory. More specifically, I want to understand how memory processes are supported in the typical brain and how those processes go amiss in models of disease. By understanding the brain physiology linked to both states, we could eventually create treatment options that may improve cognitive function by forcing the disease model brain physiology to be more similar to the ‘normal’ brain. As a Master’s student, I also found a passion for using new analytical techniques to better understand the neuronal data that we record.

    Degrees

MS in Neuroscience, University of Delaware, 2018

    BS, University of Delaware, 2017

    Publications and Presentations:

Stout, J. J., Garcia, A. C., & Griffin, A. L. (2018). Prelimbic cortex integrates behavioral context with task-coding during spatial working memory maintenance. Abstract, Society for Neuroscience Conference, San Diego CA.

    - Poster will also presented at SfN's DE Chapter Neuroscience Research Symposium, Newark DE

Gemzik, Z., Stout, J., Looney, N., Gaylord, M., Maisson, D. J-N., & Griffin, A. L. (2017). Distinct Spatial Working Memory Correlates of Prefrontal and Hippocampal Projections to the Nucleus Reuniens. Poster, Society for Neuroscience Conference, Washington D.C.
