  • Denise Barth, Graduate Student

    Graduate Student
    University of Delaware
    238 CBBI
    Newark, DE 19716

    Biography

Denise Barth is a second year PhD student in the Impression Formation Social Neuroscience lab. She is interested in studying visual and knowledge-based indicators of social categorization, as well as how perceiver attributes (e.g., endorsement of social beliefs about minorities, subjective social status, etc.) moderate impression formation and person perception more broadly. A current line of research aims to determine whether and how variation in perceiver characteristics and visual cues result in meaningful differences in neural activation in regions associated with impression formation, social judgements, and decision-making. The ultimate goal of this research agenda is to study the interactive role that the social environment and individual cognition have in engendering prejudice so that we may learn how to redirect these variables toward prejudice reduction.
