181 McKinly LabNewark, DE 19716

Amanda Costello is a Scientist in the Dozier lab, and provides supervision as part of the research team focusing on dissemination of the Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-up (ABC), an evidence-based intervention developed by Mary Dozier and her lab for infants who have experienced early adversity. ABC aims to improve young children's attachment and emotional, behavioral, and physiological regulation. In several randomized clinical trials, ABC has been found successful in enhancing attachment, cortisol production, emotion expression, and executive functioning. ABC is now implemented across the United States and in several international locations and is expanding to include an adaptation of ABC for toddlers. Dr. Costello’s primary research interest lies in assessing variables related to the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based treatments, with a particular focus on interventions to improve parent-child interactions and relationships in infancy, toddlerhood, and young childhood. She has a longstanding interest in implementing such interventions with children and families who are involved in the child welfare system.

Ph.D., West Virginia University

Costello, A.
