Currently, we are evaluating Attachment Based Family Therapy and Non-Directive Supportive Therapy for depressed and suicidal adolescents. This work is designed to understand how attachment, emotion regulation, reflective capacity and parent-adolescent communication change during therapy. We are also investigating pre-treatment factors that have the potential to influence treatment outcomes. Prospective students should have a strong interest in parenting, adolescent attachment, parent-adolescent communication or adolescent problem behaviors.

Ph.D., University of Virginia

PSYC350 Developmental Psychology

PSYC820 Psychodiagnostic Assessment

PSYC867 Developmental Risk and Psychopathology

Kobak, R., Zajac, K., Madsen, S.
