Declaring the Major
To declare a major or minor in psychology or neuroscience, all you have to do is fill out a change of major form in UDSIS. At this time, we are accepting a GPA minimum of 2.0.
If freshmen wish to change their major, they may do so after they have Fall semester grades (usually late in December).
Transfer students who are at least sophomore status or higher may change their major without a GPA during the Fall semester.
BA or BS?
The Psychology major has two options: The B.A. and the B.S. The BS degree is a more rigorous path that requires thesis reserach; it is designed to prepare students for Ph.D. work. To read more about the course requirements, visit the "Degree Requirements" topic.
The Neuroscience major is a B.S. degree.
New Major Orientation
In order to be assigned to a faculty advisor, you must attend an orientation session. New freshmen must attend a session on November 9th at 4:30 (Wolf 100) as well as a meeting on August 31 at 9am in Smith 130.
If you declare during or after your freshman year, you must visit the advising office in Wolf 202 (Mon-Thurs 4-5pm) for an in-person orientation meeting. After you attend that meeting, you will be assigned a faculty advisor.
