Bachelor of Arts requirements
Last updated Thursday, November 05, 2009
The B.A. degree is the most common way to pursue the psychology major. In addition to the university and college requirements, the B.A. in Psychology requires only 10 psychology courses.
University Requirements
English 110 Critical Reading and Writing (3cr, C- or better)
Multicultural Course (3cr, D- or better)
First Year Experience (0-3cr)
Discovery Learning Experience (3cr) **Note: PSYC365 has been approved as a DLE course. PSYC366 will be approved as a DLE course for now, but soon you will have to apply for permission to have a PSYC366 course count as DLE. For questions, email Karen Stein at kstein@udel
College of Arts and Sciences Requirements
Foreign language , up to 107 level (0-12cr, D- or better)
Second writing requirement (3cr, C- or better)
Appropriate writing courses are designated in each semester's Registration Booklet. Must complete 60 credits before you enroll.
Math (need a D-; MATH113, 114, 115, 117, 127, 170, 171, 221, or 241)................3
Note: You can only get credit for ONE of the 100-level math courses, so don't take more than one of them. You CAN take a 100-level course and then get credit for 221 or 241.
Breadth requirements (37cr total, D- or better)
In a group, you have to take courses in at least two different departments...for example, within Group A, you have to take courses in English and Theater departments, for example. And, cross listed courses do not help you here--e.g., a HIST/BAMS course counts as HIST).
Group A (Creative arts & humanities)...................................9
Group B (Cultures & institutions over time)...........................9
Group C (Humans & their environment)................................9
Group D (Natural phenomena: Must include one lab course)...10
